In the early Fall, I was invited aboard Opus - a 65' yacht docked in Jersey City, captained by a good family friend of mine. After cruising around the Statue of Liberty, and away from river traffic, I launched the drone to capture some snippets of the day. Having been told that the boat would not stop once the drone was in the air, it was by far the riskiest situation I had ever put one of my copters in. Landing proved to be the most challenging part - I felt like I was landing a chinook on an aircraft carrier in hurricane winds. Luckily, one of the deck hands was able to assist in grabbing it so that I could focus on piloting it back down onto the deck. A big risk worth the reward - The footage I was able to capture came out great, with enough video to edit into an entire 15 second clip.
An overall absolutely perfect October day out on the Hudson.
